In 2 Hyperion | Version 3.1 (and 3.2) of the Excel Essbase Ribbon is available for download

Thanks for the great suggestions Kevin! We are aware of the password not showing *, but showing the passwords. This is on our enhancement list. The other two are really great ideas. None of which have been suggested. The save as favorite is genius! Both suggestions, however, are somewhat specific on the version of Essbase installed. The servers in the dropdown are indeed saved to the registry, but have been found in different places based on the version. The second, save as favorite, unfortunately, would require the VB API/DLL files that are not installed with the Essbase Add-In. This would require the users to download and install them from an independent source, or for the ribbon to have professional installs.

We are trying to be version agnostic. If we introduce version specific ribbons/installs, it would require an investment in software, and most likely, a much more confusing product for those less informed about what version of Essbase they are using and the version of the install they are required to install. This would increase our requests to help support the ribbon, as well as a perceived problem with the functionality when the incorrect version of the Essbase DLL files is installed.

If we find a way to include any of these without forcing “versions” of the ribbon, we will do so.

Just tried the new release of the 3.1 ribbon, but unfortunately the "Replace 0s" function to replace zero values with #Missing is causing issues. Receiving "Member [MbrName] is out of place" and "Essbase Error 1020021 - Data was not saved" error messages. The problem is that the retrieve works fine and normal Lock/Send without "Replace 0s" works perfectly, but when replace some Level0 data with zeros, select "Replace 0s" function in new ribbon and select "Lock/Send" we are receiving the above errors. Any ideas? Using Excel 2007 on Windows XP Professional SP3 with Essbase 11.1.1.2. Thanks in advance.

Thanks for all the hardwork on this ribbon. It is very useful.

I currently can't install the latest version due to a password on the download and to corresponding instruction link is not working.

Please let me know if there is something I am doing wrong.

Thanks for updating the usefulness of this ribbon. I just needed to re-download the ribbon to a new machine only to find it all the more useful through a few more updates. Excellent call on the zero auto replace...although I'm going to have to get used to not doing that myself. Although you do try to recreate the most useful facets of the options, it would be nice to have an "options" link. I also use the "retention" check boxes, and I only see "Incl Selection"

The request for a link to the options is actually in the ribbon. In the options frame, there is a little square with a triangle that will open up the options dialogue. Hope this helps.

The issue raised about the replace 0 option is now fixed. For those of you who have version 3.1, please update to 3.2 to resolve this problem. Release notes can be found by selecting Free Tools! Thanks Eric for reporting and testing the update.

I was able to download and use the ribbon version 3.2. The problem that I have is that each time I close and open excel, I lose the ribbon and have to go to my downloads folder to open it and activate it again. What I am doing wrong?

If you double click the addin, it will load like any other file. To install it as an addin, follow the instructions located at www.in2hyperion.com/.../...base-Add-In-Ribbon.aspx.

Is the 3.2 release of the In2Hyperion ribbon supported in Excel 2010? Our company is looking to move all users to Excel 2010 in the future and are investigating any issues we may encounter. Thanks.

We don't actively test it in 2010 (we will in the very near future), but we have a plethora of visitors that have thanked us for the tool and communicated that it works great in both 2007 and 2010.

Started working with the "Quick Connect" saved connections and they work great and is a great time saver.  A few ideas/issues...

1)  ISSUE:  I needed to change my password in one of the connections.  The prompt I got under "Manage Connections"/"Change Password For Selected Connections" does not mask the password...it is a simple text entry that shows the password.  Thankfully, it still saves the password encrypted in the in2hypproperties.txt file.

2)  IDEA:  The ability of the "add connection" prompt to access the server list from the local machine (the list that the regular add-in login references).  I can't remember exactly where that is, but it is out there either on file or a registry entry.  Once the server is selected/entered, allow a login to see the application and database list.  And THEN save that connection.

3)  IDEA:  An alternate to this would be to "Save current connection", which would then prompt for a userid/password and name to save, but it would already have server/app/db information from the connection.  This could also come from a prompt of all current connections and the option to save one of them.

Thank your for the tool. However, I do experience a run time error on occasion when starting up Excel 2007. The error reads:

Run-time error '91':

Object variable or With block variable not set.

I'm running version 3.2. The workaround is to re-add the add in.

Have installed the add-in in Office2010. Was working great but since adding a 'quick connection' I am unable to connect via 'Quick Connect'. I click on the button and it displays a blank box. The only way I can connect to essbase is if I click on the 'Retrieve' button.

Have deleted the add-in and installed again with no avail.

Please help!

Thanks for the feedback. For those who have a similar issue. Sanjay used a & in the name of the connection name, which caused this problem. We will trouble shoot this issue and add a fix to our next release. If you have this issue, you can edit the in2Hyp.txt file in My Documents to remove the & sign. After the file is saved, restart excel.

Sorry you are having an issue when starting Excel. If you can find a pattern, please follow up with me. Some have had similar issues - we have figured out that they were related to something specific to the local PC setup. Most were related to custom code in xlstart, or addins that were set to load on startup. If you have any of those, please see if these are causing an issue when using the ribbon.

The fix that you had regarding editing the in2Hyp.txt file to remove the & sign for people having trouble with "QuickConnect" was awesome. You should totally make people aware of this issue. I must have uninstalled and installed the ribbon a dozen time. Good thing I finally read all the comments!

hello, our users started upgrading to versions 2007 and 2010 of office recently and this helps alot, however we tested it in an english language office, and users office is in spanish version so the key tips get mixed and the access shortcuts ALT+S+N become actually ALT+S+2+N, any ideas if this can be changed ? either within or outside the addin ?, thanks a lot

Anybody using the v3.3 ribbon on Office 2010 with Windows 7? Company is looking to migrate to Windows 7 in near future and was hoping the ribbon will work the same way. Thanks In2Hyperion for the ribbon, its great!

Many people are using it with Office 2010. I use it on Windows 7 - 64 and 32 bit machines.

I'm receiving the following error when I open the .xlam file in Excel 2010, "Removed Part: /xl/vbaProject.bin part. (Visual Basic for Applications (VBA))". I'm on 32bit Windows 7 Enterprise SP1 laptop with Office 2010. Excel options set for Trusted Location of ribbon .xlam file, Macro security set to "enable all", have "trust access to VBA project model" checked. Completely at a loss as to why ribbon isn't working or why /xl/vbaProject.bin.part is being removed. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.
